Who is invited?

All members are invited.

What is it?

This is a celebration of our 125th Anniversary.

Will there be voting?

There will be no voting at this meeting.

Is there programming for kids?

Yes, we will have programming for young adults. However, the child must be able to care for themselves.

What is the dress code?

For the banquet, business casual or semi-formal is appropriate. For Saturday day, business casual is appropriate. For Saturday evening, business casual or dress up in clothes representing your heritage!

What will the service project be? Will I need to bring anything?

We are still working on the service project. We will keep you posted!

What if I need to cancel?

Please get in touch with Member Engagement if you need to cancel.

HOTELS

Where will we be staying?

You will be staying at one of the three hotels we have blocked: Cedar Rapids Marriot, Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, or Homewood Suites by Hilton.

How do I know at which hotel I’ll be staying?

We will notify you at least one month before the event with hotel information.

Do we book the reservations?

No, we will handle booking the hotel. If you plan on staying before Friday, July 22, or after July 23, please get in touch with Hallie.

What if I didn’t put down with whom I’ll be sharing a room?

Please get in touch with Member Engagement, and we will make the adjustments.

What if I don’t need a hotel room?

You are not required to stay in one of the hotels we are offering. The registration fee will remain the same as it is covering other event expenses.

ATTENDANCE

How many can attend from my branch or lodge, and can we use treasury funds?

All branch and lodge members are invited. Funds from your treasury can be used to pay for registration.

What if my spouse/child/other guest is a nonmember? Can they attend? If so, how much?

It will be the exact cost as everyone else, depending on whether they register with the early bird rates.

Someone in my branch or lodge does entertainment for a specific heritage. How can they be involved?

Please have them reach out to Hallie Evenson at hevenson@betterlifeins.com. We are still looking for different cultural entertainers and would love to have members be involved on Saturday Night.

My child is a member who wants to attend or be part of the entertainment on Saturday Night. However, I am unable to attend. What do you need from me?

If your child is 17 or under and attending the celebration, you still need to provide us with your contact information along with the name of the person who is attending who will act as their guardian for the duration of the event.

BUS

What time and where are the bus locations?

There will be busses throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota. All buses will be leaving early Friday morning and arriving in Cedar Rapids prior to the banquet. Departure times will vary on Sunday Morning. We are still working on the bus locations and schedule. We will post them on the website once the schedule is complete.

Will BetterLife reimburse me for mileage if I don’t take the bus or if a bus is not offered in my state?

You will not be reimbursed for mileage if there is bussing available in your state. For those that live in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado, Montana, and Washington, you will receive a stipend of up to $400 for one member per 100 members of their branch or lodge. For example, if you are allowed three members to attend, but you will have five traveling to Cedar Rapids, we will provide $1200 for travel expenses (3 x 400 = 1200). If you need additional money, you will need to discuss with your treasury to use their funds or your own.

What if I am not using the bus transportation, but one is offered near me? Will my registration fee be reduced? Will there be reimbursement of travel costs if I am not taking the bus?

No, the registration fee covers other event expenses.

REGISTRATION

What is included in the registration fee?

The registration fee includes optional bus transportation from select locations, meals (Friday evening through Sunday morning), hotel accommodations Friday and Saturday night, and event programming.

Who pays for the registration fee?

Funds from your treasury can be used to pay for registration, or you can pay for them on your own.

Do I pay by check or card?

When you register online, you can pay by credit card or select that you’ll be mailing in a check. If you pay by check, please include who the payment is for and write 125th in the memo.

Will I need to pay for anything else after the registration fee?

You are responsible for food and beverages during travel if you take the bus. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase on Friday and Saturday nights. We may ask you to bring items for the service project. We will communicate what those needs might be in the near future.

How can someone register if they do not have internet access?

If they do not have access to a computer, you can assist them and sign them up. If you are signing someone up, please ensure you have all the questions ready when registering them online, including payment.

If a couple or family attends, is there a different price? Will they share a room?

No, they will pay the same price. If you would like to share a room with someone, please make sure you put their name down in the registration.

What is the cost for a nonmember providing entertainment on Saturday night at the Czech Museum?

They will pay the same amount. However, we would like the majority of the entertainers to be members.
