Here's how an individual's health is defined in terms of underwriting and risk category:
Excellent: (Think marathon runner or well-trained athlete)
Good: (Think healthy person with maybe some extra pounds and/or taking minor medications)
Fair: (Think average person with extra weight and/or elevated cholesterol, blood pressure or sugar levels; taking medications)
Term life insurance is the most affordable type of life insurance and can be adjusted to fit most budgets.
Term life insurance, as the name implies, is designed to cover a specific period of time, or term length. Lengths of term are from 15, 20 or 30 years. Term life insurance coverage amounts can vary depending on your needs and BetterLife has a wide range of coverage amounts to fit your unique situation. If you pass away during the designated term with an active policy, BetterLife will pay the entire death benefit to your beneficiary(ies). The recipient gets the benefit in a lump sum, generally income tax-free.
This is a great product for:
- Lowest cost insurance protection (biggest bang for the buck)
- Coverage for young families and/or college planning
- Protecting a mortgage and/or debt for a specified period of time
Graded Benefit Whole Life insurance is life insurance coverage that lasts your entire life. While it's much more expensive than a comparable term policy, it provides coverage that you won't out live.
* If you pass away due to natural causes within the first two years of issue, your beneficiary will receive a return of all premiums paid plus 5% interest per annum.
* If you pass away due to an accident within the first two years of issue, your beneficiary will receive 100% of the face value.
Prices for Life Insurance are determined by 3 factors:
- Your age and gender
- The amount of coverage and initial term duration (15, 20 or 30 years)
- Your health, lifestyle and medical history (including tobacco use, height, weight, medical conditions, medications and even family history)
There are 10+ "underwriting classes" based upon each applicant's risk factors. The lowest prices are reserved for the "super preferred" category for individuals in outstanding health with no medical issues. (It's similar to auto insurance for people with a perfect driving record).
Most people qualify for the top 3 (or lowest priced) categories.
No matter what your background, our licensed agents will review all of your options to make sure that you get the right policy at the best price.
