BetterLife and CSA Fraternal Life Celebrate Merger Rooted in Shared Values and Tradition

BetterLife and CSA Fraternal Life are proud to announce the completion of their merger, officially bringing together two fraternal benefit societies with a long-standing commitment to community, tradition, and member well-being.

The merger reflects a natural alignment between the two organizations, both of which have deep roots in Czech and Slovak heritage and shared values that include family, community service, education and patriotism. For decades, BetterLife and CSA have worked side by side in many of the same towns and cities—now, they will work as one.

“This merger is a reflection of what matters most to our members—belonging, tradition, and community,” said Chris Campbell, BetterLife CEO and Board Chair. “CSA and BetterLife have always believed in the power of people coming together to support one another. By joining forces, we’re honoring our shared heritage and creating even more opportunities for members to connect, celebrate, and make a difference in their communities.”

CSA Fraternal Life, founded in 1854, has long been a cornerstone of fraternal life in America. Its legacy of member-led lodges, cultural events, and community service is deeply rooted in the same values BetterLife has championed for generations.

“Our members have always taken pride in our heritage and the way we show up for one another,” said John Kielczewski, CSA President and CEO. “Joining BetterLife allows us to continue that legacy while expanding our reach and deepening our impact. We’re excited to grow together while staying true to who we are.”

Under the merger agreement, CSA will retain its name, member group structure, and beloved traditions. CSA employees will continue serving members as part of BetterLife, and Kielczewski will join BetterLife as Senior Vice President of Fraternal Development, helping to expand outreach with other Fraternal Organizations that share our common bond of fostering wellbeing by celebrating traditions, supporting one another, and strengthening financial security in our communities.

This merger also reunites organizations with a shared history. Western Fraternal Life was originally part of CSA Fraternal Life before branching off to become its own company. Years later, Western Fraternal Life merged with National Mutual Benefit to form BetterLife. Now, with CSA joining BetterLife, it’s as if the extended fraternal family is coming back together—reconnecting through shared heritage, values, and a renewed commitment to serving members and communities across the country.
